Event, to include personal commitment from a Children's physician, set for July 21
The Minnesota Hospital Association (MHA) will host a conference call July 21 about one
Minnesota physician's personal commitment about working to prevent central-line bloodstream
infections. All MHA patient safety and infection prevention professionals are invited to join.

Dr. Rob Payne of Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota will speak about his experiences
with bloodstream infections (BSI). A small group of MHA members has been participating in a
national "Stop BSI" initiative since April 2009. The project is led by Dr. Peter Pronovost of
Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
The call will also include:
- an overview of the BSI project by Chris Goeschel, R.N., of Johns Hopkins; and
- highlights from Minnesota implementation successes and barriers by Dr. Kay Schwebke
of Hennepin County Medical Center's infection control department.
