Minnesota depends on the nurses, orderlies, radiation technologists, clerks, cleaners, physicians and many others who keep the state's hospitals running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Hospitals ensure that the needed staff members are on hand to help meet the public's critical care needs. With 100,000 hospital employees statewide, it is a challenging task. And demographic factors make it more complex - an aging population is driving up demand at the same time retirements are increasing. Hospitals are working hard both on their own and through MHA to address work force concerns.
