February 19, 2026 — Hundreds of students from across Minnesota were eager to explore careers in health care this week when they joined The Minnesota Hospital Foundation’s (MHF) inaugural Health Care Virtual Career Day on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026.

The event was designed for students, classrooms, and individuals interested in learning more about the wide range of career opportunities available in a hospital. The strong turnout highlights the growing interest in health care professions and the value of accessible, career-focused programming.

“At a time when there are literally tens of thousands of open hospital positions to be filled, it was incredible to see so many students bring their energy and engagement to our first-ever Virtual Career Day,” said Rahul Koranne, president and CEO of the Minnesota Hospital Association. “It’s inspiring to see so many future health care professionals taking steps to explore how they can make a difference.”

Throughout the fast-paced and engaging sessions, attendees heard directly from state workforce leaders and hospital professionals working in clinical, technical, operations, and support roles. Speakers shared insights into their day-to-day responsibilities, the education and training required for their positions, and practical advice for taking the next steps toward a health care career.

Event Programming Highlights Included:

  • A Day in the Life of the Hospital – A behind-the-scenes look at how hospital teams collaborate to deliver patient care.
  • Terrific Technical Opportunities – An overview of lab, pharmacy, and surgical tech careers and the critical support they provide to physicians and nurses.
  • Health Care Operations: Careers Beyond the Bedside – Exploration of administrative, data, HR, and finance roles that keep facilities running smoothly.
  • Direct Patient Care: Clinical Roles in Health Care – Insight into careers such as nursing, physician, advanced practice roles, and physical and occupational therapy.
  • Growing Your Health Care Career – Discussion of how professionals can advance and transition into new opportunities over time.

Participants praised the opportunity to hear directly from professionals across multiple disciplines and gain a clearer understanding of the many pathways available within health care.
