HCMC provides emergency trauma care to patients from across Minnesota, and this statewide resource is jeopardy due to mounting financial concerns.
MHA CEO and president Rahul Koranne and senior adviser to the governor’s office on hospitals and health systems Jan Malcolm spoke to MPR host Angela Davis about the crucial resource HCMC is to the entire state and the financial crisis at hospitals across Minnesota.
“These are not isolated incidents… This is a symptom of something fundamentally broken… Hospitals are caregiving entities and HCMC is the beating heart in Minneapolis, where the local residents walk to get their care and air ambulances come in from greater Minnesota and the upper midwest for trauma and burn care,” Koranne said.
They discussed solutions for HCMC and other hospitals facing financial challenges. Listen now.
