ICYMI: Madelia Health officials say the hospital is facing severe financial strain after exhausting options to secure additional funding to support operations and payroll.
The small critical access hospital has been for months leaning on existing line of credit with a local bank. The Star Tribune recently talked with hospital leaders and patients about what closure would mean for the local community and the larger region.
“It might not seem like 30 minutes to Mankato or 15 minutes to St. James or whatever is a big deal, but it is a big deal when it comes to stroke and heart attack and those life-saving things,” said Roz Snyder, Madelia’s chief clinical officer.
