The Summer Health Care Internship Program (SHCIP) brings students and employers together to give students experience in a health care environment. Participating organizations employ students between Memorial Day and Labor Day for six to 12 weeks and pay them at least minimum wage. Up to half of the interns’ hourly wages are reimbursed through the program. In 2025, SHCIP provided 117 students with over 30,000 hours of internship experience in 60 hospitals, clinics, and long-term care organizations.
The employer application and additional details will be available on this page on Monday, March 2. The employer application deadline is Friday, Apr. 17. A list of participating employers will be posted on this page beginning Friday, Apr. 6 and will be updated weekly until the employer application deadline. Students should refer to that list and contact the participating employers directly to apply.
