The Minnesota Hospital Foundation (MHF) Health Care Mentorship Program brings students and health care employers together, providing students experience in a health care environment and employers the opportunity to meet future health care professionals.

In addition to hands-on experience, students will have access to networking and career counseling opportunities. This well-rounded mentorship experience aims to engage students and set them up for success in a health care career. Health care employers must pay mentees at least minimum wage and up to half of the mentee’s total hourly wages through this program will be reimbursed to the employer.

The Summer Health Care Internship Program (SHCIP) is a program administered by the Minnesota Hospital Association on behalf of the Minnesota Department of Health.

The program brings students and employers together to give students experience in a health care environment. Participating organizations employ students between Memorial Day and Labor Day and pay them at least minimum wage. Up to half of the intern’s hourly wages are reimbursed through the program. In 2024, the SHCIP provided 168 students with over 45 thousand hours of internship experience in 76 Minnesota hospitals, clinics, and long-term care organizations.
