Regions Hospital honored with MHA Best Minnesota Hospital Workplace Award

MHA on June 2 honored innovative programs and outstanding leaders in health care at its 33rd annual awards ceremony.

Regions Hospital in St. Paul received the Best Minnesota Hospital Workplace Award in the large hospital category, which recognizes hospitals that have gone the extra mile to strengthen employee engagement and satisfaction.

To meet employees' physical health needs, the hospital offers an on-site fitness center that is open around the clock and a spacious, remodeled café that offers healthy food options for patients, families and hospital staff. Regions' commitment to employee health and well-being extends to the mind as well. The hospital's Center for Employee Resilience makes it easier for hospital employees to relax, restore and renew.

Regions employees are pleased with the improvements. In the hospital's 2016 Annual Engagement Survey, 93 percent of employees said they would recommend their company to others as a good place to work and 95 percent said they would recommend Regions to friends and family for care. In addition, 96 percent said they believe strongly in the company's mission and vision. Providing a positive work environment has played a significant role in Regions' success at retaining employees.

Guides available to help employers hire service members, veterans

There are nearly one million veterans and service members across the U.S. looking for full-time jobs that will take advantage of their training, skills and experience. More than 200,000 service members leave the military every year to transition to civilian employment.

Center for America (CFA), a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization, has published guides to help employers identify and hire veterans and service members. The guides address best practices for recruiting veterans, federal tax benefits and compliance with federal contractor regulations.
