North Memorial Health honored with MHA Community Benefit Award

MHA on June 1 honored innovative programs and outstanding leaders in health care at its 34th annual awards ceremony.

North Memorial Health in Robbinsdale received the Community Benefit Award in the large hospital category, which recognizes hospitals for working beyond their physical walls to improve the health and well-being of their communities.

North Memorial Health was recognized for North Market and the Wellness Resource Center. This innovative partnership between Pillsbury United Communities and North Memorial Health is a combined grocery store and wellness center that seeks to meet the nutritional and health needs of an underserved community in North Minneapolis.

Responding to needs identified in North Memorial Health's 2013 and 2016 Community Health Needs Assessments, the grocery store offers affordable and healthy food in one of Minnesota's largest food deserts. The Wellness Resource Center offers free non-medical services, focused on educating customers about their health and connecting customers with additional resources external to North Market.

Additional award winners will be profiled in upcoming issues of Newsline. To learn more about the award winners, visit the MHA websitereturn to top
