Good Catch for Patient Safety Award
The MHA Good Catch for Patient Safety award is presented to Minnesota hospital staff who demonstrate their commitment to keeping patients safe by "speaking up" to prevent potential harm to a patient. MHA encourages individual and team nominations, and system or organizational process and safety improvements that were made to prevent near misses and good catches from reaching patients. It is because of actions taken every day by dedicated professionals like the Good Catch Award honorees that Minnesota hospitals continue to be front-runners in patient safety.
There will be three levels of awards presented:
- Nominations will be accepted throughout the year. If the nomination has met the following criteria the nominee(s) will receive a letter and certificate of recognition from the MHA President: a) likelihood that a patient safety issue would have resulted if the Good Catch did not happen; and b) potential impact to patients if the Good Catch did not happen.
- Each quarter one individual or team recognized during the current quarter will be in the running to receive special recognition for outstanding achievement based on the nature of the Good Catch and the impact to patient safety. Quarterly award winners will be recognized in-person.
- Annually, one award will be presented at the MHA Awards Banquet: One of the year’s quarterly award recipients will be selected to receive special recognition.
